Lessons

Each song is the basis for two 50-minute lessons each week. Schools and after-school programs may select any combination of 6, 12 or 18 songs. Parents may choose individual song packages which include their accompanying lyric sheets and parent guides, or choose groups of 6, 12 or 18 packages of for special discounts.

In the first of two lessons for each song, children listen to the song and read the lyric sheet, to become familiar with the words and sing along with the chorus. The instructor or parent then discusses the meaning of the vocabulary and phrases in the lyric, so the children have a good understanding of the words and overall subject matter. Finally, the children do an arts and crafts project related to the subject of the song.

In the second lesson, children listen to the song again and learn a choreography routine that fits the song. Alternatively, children can make up their own dance.

Each new lesson begins with a simple test to record how much of the previous week’s lesson has been retained – how many of the words and phrases can be related to their respective meanings, and how much of the choreography has been remembered. These metrics are recorded to ensure the effectiveness of the learning process.

Below is a list of the lesson topics for the complete course.
